If Akira underreacts, then Akechi overreacts; there's a certain balance between the two of them, but it's a delicate thing to manage. Akira anticipated that Akechi would react like this -- it didn't matter if he left when he has nowhere to go; so long as he's alive then there's more chances that will present themselves -- but Akira is caught somewhat off guard when Akechi... fails to leave.
